I first met the women of LILA Pilipina in June of 1999. We were six Filipina American women researching the experiences of Filipina "Comfort Women" of WWII for a screenplay. What we learned has affected my work as a writer, a teacher and as a woman of Filipina descent. These pages reveal some of the research I have done for LOLAS' HOUSE: Women Living with War. Even now, the Japanese government continues to withhold a formal apology, reparations, and historical notice. Read on.
